Round One ~ Chapter 2

CHAPTER TWO

"Yuki, where are we going?"
   "North"
"But I can't see anything, are you sure this is the right way?"
"Yes"
I still can't believe her. We've been walking here for at least five minutes already.
"Stop." I hear and I do what I'm told. It's quiet. What is the point of stopping when you can't see anything? I wait, and after a short while I hear footsteps. There is someone, or something, coming towards us! I squeeze in Yuki her hand, scared of what might come. It's coming closer, and closer.
"Yuki," I whisper. "What is that?"
"People." she answers back. More people? Who could it be? Maybe that guy Neo is searching for us! I know he is!

A light is shining on the wall, so he has a light with him! He is one step away to finding us. I turn around and want to run, away from the light. I hear a thud and see myself lying on the ground.
"Did you hear that just now?" I hear the voice of a young girl saying.
"Lets find out." I hear people running, running towards us. We must run as well, just get away maybe they're dangerous!
I get up and a bright yellow light is shining in my eyes. The silhouette of Yuki is standing in front of me, holding her hand before her eyes. I assume the light is too bright for her as well.
"Who are you?" the girl said. "Why are we here? Are you the baddies?"
"No, we aren't going to hurt you." Yuki answered.
The girl lowered the light to the ground and walked to us. Finally I can see who it is. It's a little girl dressed with a purple coat and jeans. Her expression is emotionless and strait. A boy with the same purple coat follows her, but instead of jeans he's wearing shorts that are way too short for a boy to wear. He looks surprised and scared at the same time with his eyes wide open.
"My name is Murasaki Ryo, and this is Shizuka. Who are you and do you know why we are here?" Well said, I thought.
"My name is Yuki and this imbecile hasn't told me anything yet about himself," Ouch? "So if you want to know, ask him."
All eyes are on me. I must introduce myself now, I know that, but there is one problem.
"Too be honest, I'm not so sure myself."



A silence fell and the one to break it is a mouse that happened to pass us.
"We're all in this 'game', we all took the red door, and we woke up in this place. Isn't amnesia a bit cliché in this day and age?" The girl asked as the boy tried to grab the mouse.
"I'm sorry, but I really can't remember even if I want to!"
"Then please tell us why you haven't told this girl that already."
"She didn't ask, so I haven't thought about it before."

Again a silence fell in the small corridor. I saw how the boy grabbed the mouse by its tail and smiled at it. Squeaking the mouse tried to get out of his grip but failed over and over again.
"Why haven't you said anything yet?" I ask the boy who dropped the mouse out of shock. He looked at met and shook his head. He opened his mouth and pointed into it. What does he mean with that?
"He can't talk," The girl answered. "Shizuka was born this way, without a voice. We are twins. So I act as his mouth, we understand each other. And this is the least I can do."
She looked down to the ground. I think I can see her wiping a tear. The boy looked at her with a sad look on his face and tried to comfort her.
"We need to get moving." Yuki stood up and signed me to do the same, which I do. I take a look at the siblings and asked them if they are coming with us. Shizuka stood up instantly but Ryo was a bit slower. She told us that where they come from there is a dead end so we headed down, with torch in our hands, further into the so-called 'North'.



"What the hell is this?"
After ten minutes of walking we came into a boiler room set under water. Steam was coming out of the big boilers and you could see electricity sparks connected to the water. There is no way to get across this room. Our only choice is to go back and try another hallway, but the others have other things on their minds.
"Look over there," Ryo said, and I followed the way her finger was pointing at. An exit sign can be seen above what seems an elevator. That's nuts! How are we going to cross this?
"We must get to that elevator!"
"Yeah, but how?" I questioned. "Surely there must be another way around, to escape."
"There isn't, almost all the doors are locked and this is north."
"Yeah, but—"
"No buts! Lets find away across the water without touching it."
It seems a good plan, but how? We all look for ways to get there. The elevator is connected to a bridge but the doors leading to it are closed and the ladder connected to it is under water. It seems almost impossible to do it, and the steam isn't helping. There is absolutely no way across, no matter how you look at it!

"Look," Yuki suddenly said. "We can go across with that thing."
She was pointing at an electric court that was hanging between the water and the celling. Above it there is a grid, which you can easily hold on to if you have enough strength. I could cross that, but with the fact that I'm handcuffed to a girl it might be impossible. I looked towards the other two.
"So, can you two do it?" I ask.
"We can, don't underestimate us!" She says angry. "Should we go first to demonstrate it?" She grabs the hand of her companion and walks toward the cable.
"Stop," Said Yuki while she pushed the two back. "We'll go first."
And without consulting me first, she grabs the cable with both her hands.
"Come." I hear and do the same as she does.
"How do we get up?"
"Jump, and climb." She jumps and like a spider she stands on the wall. Amazing how she does that! I do the same. Slowly but effective we walk up to the grid. It's about 10 meters to the celling, almost if this cable is made for this action. When we get to the top I jumped and got the grid with my right hand. I help Yuki up and soon we're climbing across the large boiler room. It's hot in here, almost a sauna! All the steam is the cause of this. Can't we shut it down or something? I look at Yuki who was still keeping her poker face, still after all this.

It doesn't take long or we are at our final destination in this dreadful room. Shizuka is looking at us with open mouth. 'Impressive' he might say, that is, if he could. The elevator is a simple one. You can see them in almost all the buildings with more that one floor. I press the 'up' button and the doors open immediately. We look inside and see two buttons, one named E-DECK and the other BRIDGE.
"The lift works!" I yell at the two across the room. "You can come and cross now!"
"Oh, we will!" Ryo yells back. They grab the cable and make the same crab-like movement we made. I can't be sure, but I think those two are even quicker than we were! They jump and soon they are on their way to the elevator, where we are waiting. Is it just me or is it getting hotter in here? I look at Yuki and even without her emotions; I can still see she is very hot. She's sweating like a dog!
A huge explosion can be heard. One of the boilers exploded and steam is flowing in the room. It's getting hotter and hotter, we need to get out of here!
The twins are still hanging on the grid, trying to make it to the other side. They are almost here, only a meter or five. But it's going terribly wrong. The hands Shizuka boy can't hold it anymore and he slips away, taking his sister with him into the water.
